Important Note on Pollination
Florida Rose is a rabbiteye blueberry (Vaccinium virgatum) and requires a pollination partner for best results.
It will not set fruit properly on its own—or when planted with highbush varieties like Sharpblue or Biloxi.
❌ Not Compatible With:
- Sharpblue
- Biloxi(These are southern highbush varieties and won’t pollinate rabbiteyes.)
✅ Compatible Pollinator Pairings:
Plant any one of these rabbiteye varieties nearby (within 20–30 ft):
- Brightwell
- Climax
- Tifblue
- Powderblue
- Premier
- Vernon
- Pink Lemonade (yes, pink & cross-compatible!)
Adding one of these ensures larger harvests, better fruit set, and happier bees.
Best Practices for Planting and Care
- Where to Plant: Full sun preferred; plant in acidic, well-drained soils (pH 4.5–5.5)
- Soil Tips: Mix pine bark fines or peat moss into planting area to boost acidity
- Planting Method: Use our “High & Tight” technique for raised planting—watch our YouTube video here
- Watering: Daily for the first 1–2 weeks after transplanting; then 2–3x/week as established
- Mulching: Use pine bark or pine straw mulch; maintain 2–3 inches deep but keep off trunk
- Winter Care in FL: Hardy to 10°F. In rare hard freezes, use frost cloth or row cover for added protection
🪴 Container & Indoor Growing Tips
- Container Size: Start with at least 7 gallons; upgrade to 10–15 gallons for long-term success
- Soil Mix: Blend acidic soil base with pine fines, peat moss, and perlite
- Best Location: Full sun patios, porches, or entryways—where the pink foliage can shine!
- Indoor Care: Not suitable for indoor-only growing—requires outdoor chill hours annually
🌸 Visual Appeal in the Landscape
- Pink New Growth: A showstopper! Foliage emerges pink before transitioning to soft green
- Multiseason Interest:
- Spring: Bell-shaped white blooms
- Summer: Pink fruit clusters
- Fall: Red and bronze foliage
- Design Ideas:
- Use in edible hedges or cottage gardens
- Great border plant for pollinator gardens
- Accent container for patios or urban homesteads
⚠️ Cautions
- Must Have Cross-Pollinator: Without another rabbiteye blueberry nearby, fruiting will be poor or nonexistent
- Requires Consistent Watering: Avoid letting the plant dry out, especially during flowering and fruiting
- Sensitive Root System: Avoid standing water and heavy, clay soil

🚚 LIVE PLANT SHIPPING & TRANSIT EXPECTATIONS
Live plants naturally experience stress during shipping. Temporary leaf drop, mild wilting, or cosmetic stress is normal after transit. Most plants recover quickly with proper watering, gradual light exposure, and basic aftercare. Some plants may require additional attention during the first few weeks.
Despite careful packing, minor cosmetic damage may occur during transit. Small issues such as broken leaves or stems typically resolve with time and proper care.
If your shipping box arrives with significant external damage, please contact UPS within 30 days to initiate a carrier claim.
⏱️ SHIPPING METHOD, TIMING & TRANSIT WINDOWS
All online orders ship via UPS Ground from our Central Florida nursery.
📦 Shipping Schedule: Orders ship once weekly on Mondays to reduce the risk of packages sitting in transit over weekends. A countdown clock on our website displays the next shipping date.
🚚 Typical Transit Times:
-
Florida: 1–2 days
-
Southern U.S.: approximately 2 days
-
Midwest, West & Northern U.S.: 3–5 business days
Long-distance shipments, particularly to the western U.S., may experience additional transit time due to agricultural inspections in states such as Arizona, California, and Texas.
Extended transit times can be more challenging for small or tender plants and may require additional recovery care after arrival.
