Mulberry - 6th Street (Morus alba) 1G
🍇 6th Street Mulberry Tree — Florida-Found Flavor with Fast, Easy Harvests 🌿
Morus alba selection ‘6th Street’
Some fruits are so delicate that the only real way to enjoy them is to grow them yourself.
Mulberries are one of those fruits.
They are soft, juicy, and extremely perishable once ripe, which is why truly good mulberries are almost never found in grocery stores. If you want to taste them at peak flavor — dark, sweet, juicy, and fully ripe — growing your own is the move.
6th Street Mulberry has become a favorite with Florida growers because it combines everything people want in a backyard fruit tree: bright, crowd-pleasing flavor, reliable crops, fast growth, and easy pruning.
Discovered in Gainesville, Florida along NW Sixth Street and shared through local edible plant networks, this cultivar gained popularity for its lively berry flavor and consistent performance in Florida’s climate.
And here’s the good news for shoppers starting small:
This tree grows fast.
Even when smaller starter plants are the only size available, 6th Street is such a vigorous grower that a small starter can often catch up to the size and presence of a larger nursery tree surprisingly quickly. With warm weather, proper container upsizing, and steady care, a young plant can often feel like a 3-gallon tree within just a few months of active growth.
That makes 6th Street one of the most efficient and affordable ways to start growing mulberries at home.
Growers choose it for:
- bright sweet-tart berry flavor
- fast establishment
- compact, prune-friendly growth
- reliable crops in warm climates
- excellent performance in Florida edible landscapes

🪴 Growing Your 4″ Starter — Container First
Even though this is a fast grower, a 4″ starter plant is still a young tree.
We recommend growing it in containers first to build a stronger root system.
Recommended Container Path
| Stage | Container |
|---|---|
| Current plant | 4″ |
| First upgrade | 3 gallon |
| Patio tree | 7–10 gallon |

Despite careful packing, minor cosmetic damage may occur during transit. Small issues such as broken leaves or stems typically resolve with time and proper care.
If your shipping box arrives with significant external damage, please contact UPS within 30 days to initiate a carrier claim.
