🌱 Planting & Care Guide: Unlock the Full Potential of Lagos Spinach!

Congratulations on your choice to cultivate Lagos Spinach, the versatile herb that combines beauty and flavor. To ensure your Lagos Spinach thrives to its fullest potential, let's dive into the planting and care essentials:

  • Lagos Spinach flourishes in a variety of sunlight conditions, thriving in both full and partial sun. When selecting a planting spot, choose an area that receives an adequate amount of sunlight to promote healthy growth.
  • Soil drainage is crucial for Lagos Spinach. Ensure the soil in your chosen location is well-draining. Proper drainage prevents waterlogging, which can be detrimental to the plant's health.

Where to Plant vs. Where Not to Plant:

  • Ideal Planting Spots: Lagos Spinach performs best in areas with well-draining soil and access to sunlight. These conditions promote optimal growth and development, resulting in lush and vibrant foliage.
  • Caution in Waterlogged Soil: Avoid planting Lagos Spinach in areas with waterlogged or poorly draining soil. Such conditions can lead to root rot and other issues that may harm your plant. It's essential to provide a suitable environment to maximize your Lagos Spinach's chances of thriving.

❄️ Winter Care for Celosia: Keeping Your Blooms Alive!

As winter approaches, you may be wondering how to ensure your vibrant Celosia continues to thrive during the colder months. Proper winter care is essential to protect your beloved plant and enjoy its beauty year after year. Here's how to keep Celosia alive in the winter:

1. Pruning and Cleanup:

  • Trimming: Before winter sets in, trim your Celosia plant back to a few inches above the soil level. This encourages new growth in the spring and prevents the plant from becoming too leggy.
  • Remove Dead Material: Remove any dead or decaying leaves and flowers. This helps prevent the growth of mold and disease during the winter.

2. Indoor Transition:

  • Container Plants: If you're growing Celosia in containers, consider bringing them indoors for the winter. Place them near a sunny window where they can receive adequate light.
  • Houseplant Care: Indoors, Celosia prefers temperatures between 70°F to 75°F (21°C to 24°C). Keep the soil moderately moist but avoid overwatering, as soggy soil can lead to root rot.

3. Protection from Frost:

  • Outdoor Plants: If you have Celosia planted directly in the ground, you can provide protection from frost by covering them with a frost cloth or blanket on cold nights. Remove the cover during the day to allow sunlight access.
  • Mulch: Apply a layer of mulch around the base of outdoor Celosia plants to insulate the soil and protect the roots from freezing temperatures.

4. Monitor Moisture:

  • Avoid Waterlogged Soil: During the winter, reduce the frequency of watering. Celosia prefers slightly drier conditions in the dormant season. Ensure the soil is well-draining to prevent root issues.

5. Prune as Needed:

  • Regular Pruning: Throughout the winter, keep an eye on your Celosia for any dead or diseased growth and prune it away promptly. This will help the plant focus its energy on healthy parts.

By following these winter care guidelines, you can keep your Celosia plant alive and thriving, ready to burst back into colorful blooms when spring arrives.

🏡 Can Celosia Be a Houseplant?

Celosia can indeed be grown as a houseplant, bringing its vibrant and unique appearance indoors. Here's how to care for Celosia as a houseplant:

1. Light Requirements:

  • Celosia thrives in bright, indirect sunlight when grown indoors. Place it near a sunny window where it can receive ample light without direct exposure to harsh sun.

2. Temperature and Humidity:

  • Maintain a comfortable indoor temperature range of 70°F to 75°F (21°C to 24°C) for Celosia.
  • Celosia prefers moderate humidity. Consider using a humidifier or misting the plant occasionally to provide the necessary moisture.

3. Potting Mix:

  • Use a well-draining potting mix for your indoor Celosia. A mix designed for flowering plants or cacti can work well.

4. Watering:

  • Water your indoor Celosia when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Be careful not to overwater, as this can lead to root rot. Always allow excess water to drain from the pot.

5. Fertilizing:

  • Feed your indoor Celosia with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring to early fall). Reduce fertilization during the dormant winter months.

6. Pruning:

  • Regularly remove spent flowers and dead or yellowing leaves to encourage new growth and maintain the plant's appearance.

With proper care, Celosia can thrive as a stunning houseplant, adding a burst of color and uniqueness to your indoor space.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure the well-being of your Celosia plant whether you're facing winter's chill or bringing its beauty indoors to enjoy year-round. Happy gardening! 🌼🌿❄️

🚚 LIVE PLANT SHIPPING & TRANSIT EXPECTATIONS

Live plants naturally experience stress during shipping. Temporary leaf drop, mild wilting, or cosmetic stress is normal after transit. Most plants recover quickly with proper watering, gradual light exposure, and basic aftercare. Some plants may require additional attention during the first few weeks.

Despite careful packing, minor cosmetic damage may occur during transit. Small issues such as broken leaves or stems typically resolve with time and proper care.

If your shipping box arrives with significant external damage, please contact UPS within 30 days to initiate a carrier claim.

⏱️ SHIPPING METHOD, TIMING & TRANSIT WINDOWS

All online orders ship via UPS Ground from our Central Florida nursery.

📦 Shipping Schedule: Orders ship once weekly on Mondays to reduce the risk of packages sitting in transit over weekends. A countdown clock on our website displays the next shipping date.

🚚 Typical Transit Times:
  • Florida: 1–2 days

  • Southern U.S.: approximately 2 days

  • Midwest, West & Northern U.S.: 3–5 business days

Long-distance shipments, particularly to the western U.S., may experience additional transit time due to agricultural inspections in states such as Arizona, California, and Texas.

Extended transit times can be more challenging for small or tender plants and may require additional recovery care after arrival.
