๐ŸŒฑ Top Benefits & Uses

๐Ÿ’ง Water-Saving Lawn Replacement

Once established, it thrives with minimal watering and stays green in Floridaโ€™s toughest heat.

๐ŸŒพ Soil Builder & Nitrogen Fixer

Enriches soil naturally โ€” no need for nitrogen fertilizer.

๐ŸŒบ Long Blooming Season

Golden-yellow flowers appear nearly year-round in frost-free zones.

๐Ÿ Pollinator-Friendly

Native bees adore the bright blossoms, helping increase pollination across your property.

๐ŸŒฟ Erosion Control & Living Mulch

Its dense rhizome network holds soil in place, making it ideal for slopes, sandy soils, and between fruit trees.

๐ŸŒž Where to Plant

Choose a full-sun location with well-drained sandy or loamy soil. Avoid heavy clay or constantly wet spots. Perfect for:

  • Lawns and pathways (low-traffic areas)
  • Orchard understories and between fruit trees
  • Berms, slopes, and sandy gardens
  • Food forests and regenerative landscapes

๐ŸŒฑ How to Plant (High & Tight Method)

  1. Dig a hole slightly wider than the pot and no deeper than the rootball.
  2. Keep crown level with or slightly above the soil line.
  3. Backfill with native soil and compost, pressing gently to eliminate air pockets.
  4. Water thoroughly and mulch around (not touching stems).
  5. Space plants 12โ€“18 inches apart for fast coverage.

๐Ÿ’ง Watering

  • Water daily for the first week, then reduce to 2โ€“3 times weekly.
  • Once established, the perennial peanut thrives on minimal irrigation.

โœ‚๏ธ Mowing & Maintenance

  • Optional mowing encourages dense, uniform growth and repeat blooms.
  • Mow or trim every 4โ€“6 weeks if used as a decorative lawn.
  • Minimal care needed beyond occasional edging and weeding during early growth.

๐ŸŒผ Edible & Ecological Notes

  • Flowers are edible and have a fresh, green-peanut flavor โ€” a fun, subtle treat for salads and garnishes.
  • Use caution when harvesting from areas that may have been exposed to chemicals, fertilizers, or pet activity.
  • Always harvest from clean, organically maintained areas.
  • Blooms also attract small pollinators and beneficial insects that help balance your garden ecosystem.

๐ŸŒฟ Seasonal Behavior

In Zones 8bโ€“9a, foliage may die back in winter after frost, regrowing in spring from rhizomes. In South Florida, it stays mostly evergreen and continues to bloom.

๐Ÿชด Container & Small-Space Growing

Use your 4โ€ starter as a potted accent or spillover plant in patio containers, raised beds, or micro food forests. It thrives with full sun and good drainage.

โš ๏ธ Cautions

  • Handles only light foot traffic; not suitable for heavy play areas.
  • Avoid constant soggy soils; prefers well-drained conditions.
  • Foliage burns in frost but rebounds quickly once warm.

Troubleshooting Guide

Problem Likely Cause & Fix
Slow establishment Common with 4โ€ startersโ€”keep soil moist and weed-free during first 2โ€“3 months.
Yellowing leaves Check drainage and avoid overwatering; top-dress with compost or minerals.
Few blooms Increase sunlight exposure and consider light trimming to refresh growth.
Winter dieback Normal response to frost; regrowth occurs in spring.

1. Shipping Stress: Transportation can be stressful for plants, particularly when they spend several days in a confined, dark environment. It’s common for plants to experience leaf drop during this period. Rest assured, most plants typically recover quickly and thrive with minimal aftercare. However, some may need extra attention, love, and care, requiring appropriate watering and exposure to gentle light post-unboxing.

2. Potential Physical Damage: Despite our dedicated efforts to ensure that your plants are securely packaged, they may incur damage during shipping and handling by UPS. Rest assured, our shipping team is committed to packing your selections with utmost care and precision to minimize any potential harm.

  • For significant box damage, please reach out to UPS within 30 days to initiate a claim.

  • For minor damages, such as a broken branch or stem, we advise allowing the plant time to recover and regenerate with proper care and attention.

3. Long-Distance Shipping Considerations: Orders shipped over long distances, particularly to the western US, may take 3 - 5 business days to arrive due to various factors, including agricultural inspections in Arizona, California, and Texas. Such extended transit times can be particularly challenging for tender, young plants, affecting their quality due to prolonged confinement.

  • We take additional measures during packaging to facilitate a swift recovery of the plants upon unboxing.

  • Initial extra care and attention might be required over the first few weeks post-transport.

For further guidance, kindly review our detailed policies on returns and refunds, as well as our comprehensive plant care guide. We appreciate your understanding and patience in nurturing your new plants.
