Mulberry - World's Best (Morus alba macroura hybrid) 4”
🍇 “World’s Best” Mulberry Tree — Legendary Flavor in a Compact Fruit Tree 🌿
Morus alba hybrid “World’s Best”
Some fruits are simply too delicate for grocery stores.
Mulberries are one of them.
They are soft, juicy, and extremely perishable once ripe, which is why truly fresh mulberries are almost never found in supermarkets. By the time they could be shipped and stocked, they would already be past their peak.
That’s exactly why gardeners love them.
When you grow your own “World’s Best” Mulberry, you get to harvest fruit directly from the branch — sweet, dark, juicy, and perfectly ripe.
This Thai-origin mulberry selection has earned its reputation among growers for three simple reasons:
- bold berry flavor
- fast growth
- compact, manageable tree size
“World’s Best” is widely known for producing rich, jammy berries with deep sweetness and complex berry flavor, making it one of the most sought-after mulberries for fresh eating.
Our 4″ starter plants are young and vigorous — ideal for growers who enjoy raising a fruit tree from the early stages.
With sun, water, and good container care, this small starter can quickly grow into a productive mulberry tree capable of producing multiple harvests per year in warm climates.

🪴 Growing Your 4″ Mulberry — Container First, Ground Later
Our 4″ starter plants are young trees, not landscape-ready trees.
While planting directly in the ground is technically possible, we strongly recommend growing the plant in containers until it reaches at least a 2–3 gallon size and shows active new growth.
This greatly improves success.
Small starter plants planted directly in the ground can struggle with:
- drought stress
- weed competition
- heavy rain
- wind exposure
- insect pressure
Developing a larger root system first makes the tree much easier to establish later.
📏 Recommended Container Progression
| Growth Stage | Container |
|---|---|
| Starter plant | 4″ |
| Early development | 1 gallon |
| Intermediate tree | 2–3 gallon |
| Landscape ready | 7 gallon |
| Mature container tree | 10–15 gallon |
Shortcut Option
To speed up growth you may transplant directly from:
4″ → 3 gallon container
🔁 Container Upsizing Guide
Signs It’s Time to Upsize
- roots circling container
- soil drying quickly
- slowed growth
Basic Transplant Steps
1️⃣ Choose a container 2–3× larger
2️⃣ Add potting mix to the bottom
3️⃣ Remove plant gently
4️⃣ Keep soil line level
5️⃣ Backfill soil
6️⃣ Water deeply
🌱 Ideal Potting Soil Mix
Mulberries prefer soil that retains moisture while draining well.
Recommended mix:
| Ingredient | Percentage |
|---|---|
| Potting soil | 40% |
| Compost | 25–30% |
| Pine bark fines or coconut coir | 15–20% |
| Perlite or pumice | 10–15% |
Optional additions:
- worm castings
- biochar
- trace minerals
🌱 Best Practices for Planting
When planting your fully established 3-gallon tree:
- dig hole slightly wider than container
- keep soil depth equal to container
- plant slightly above grade if needed for drainage
GreenDreams “High & Tight” Method
- top dress with compost, biochar, and minerals
- apply 2–3″ hardwood mulch
- keep mulch away from trunk

🚚 LIVE PLANT SHIPPING & TRANSIT EXPECTATIONS
Live plants naturally experience stress during shipping. Temporary leaf drop, mild wilting, or cosmetic stress is normal after transit. Most plants recover quickly with proper watering, gradual light exposure, and basic aftercare. Some plants may require additional attention during the first few weeks.
Despite careful packing, minor cosmetic damage may occur during transit. Small issues such as broken leaves or stems typically resolve with time and proper care.
If your shipping box arrives with significant external damage, please contact UPS within 30 days to initiate a carrier claim.
⏱️ SHIPPING METHOD, TIMING & TRANSIT WINDOWS
All online orders ship via UPS Ground from our Central Florida nursery.
📦 Shipping Schedule: Orders ship once weekly on Mondays to reduce the risk of packages sitting in transit over weekends. A countdown clock on our website displays the next shipping date.
🚚 Typical Transit Times:
-
Florida: 1–2 days
-
Southern U.S.: approximately 2 days
-
Midwest, West & Northern U.S.: 3–5 business days
Long-distance shipments, particularly to the western U.S., may experience additional transit time due to agricultural inspections in states such as Arizona, California, and Texas.
Extended transit times can be more challenging for small or tender plants and may require additional recovery care after arrival.
🌡️ EXTREME WEATHER & SEASONAL RISK
Live plants are sensitive to temperature extremes.
We cannot guarantee plant condition during periods of extreme summer heat or winter cold and freezing temperatures. Weather-related delays, carrier interruptions, or exposure during delivery are beyond our control.
Customers are responsible for:

Monitoring tracking information sent via email
-
Retrieving packages promptly upon delivery

By purchasing live plants, customers acknowledge and accept the risks associated with shipping, weather exposure, transit delays, and regional suitability.
Refunds or replacements are considered only under exceptional circumstances and in accordance with our return and refund policy. We are not responsible for:
-
Weather-related damage
-
Carrier delays
