🌱 Meet Stevia: Nature's Sweet Treasure

In 1905, Paraguayan botanist Moisés Santiago Bertoni embarked on an adventure of botanical proportions. Amidst the dense foliage, Bertoni stumbled upon a wonder—a secret concealed within the unassuming leaves of a humble plant. It was a revelation that would forever change the way we experience sweetness, and the world would come to know it as Stevia.

Is Stevia Your Perfect Plant?

  • Small-space gardeners: 🏙️ If you're short on garden space, Stevia thrives in containers, allowing you to enjoy homegrown sweetness no matter how limited your area.
  • Sugar reducers: 🙅‍♂️ For those aiming to cut down on sugar, Stevia provides a natural, calorie-free alternative.

  • Cold-climate dwellers: 🥶 Stevia prefers warmer zones and may require protection or indoor cultivation in extremely cold climates (below Zone 8).
  • Individuals allergic to Stevia: 🚫 While rare, some people may have sensitivities to Stevia, so it's essential to stay cautious if you have known allergies.

Stevia isn't just for home gardeners; it's making waves in the food industry as a natural sugar substitute. Its versatility is taking the culinary world by storm!

Planting and Caring for Stevia: Your Recipe for Success

🏡 Where to Plant:

  • Optimal Sunlight: Choose a sunny spot to plant your Stevia for maximum growth and sweetness. It thrives when basking in the warm embrace of the sun.
  • Container Charm: Short on garden space? No problem! Stevia loves containers, making it an ideal choice for small gardens, balconies, and patios. Its adaptability knows no bounds!
  • Where NOT to Plant: Avoid areas with excessive shade or in the path of strong winds that might hinder its growth.

🌱 How to Plant and Transplant:

Planting or transplanting Stevia is a breeze with these steps:

  1. Choose the Right Spot: Find a location with well-draining soil that receives ample sunlight.
  2. Prepare the Hole: Dig a hole that's roughly twice the size of the pot your Stevia plant is in.
  3. Gentle Extraction: Carefully remove the plant from its pot, taking extra care not to damage its delicate roots.
  4. Perfect Placement: Set the plant in the hole, ensuring it sits at the same depth as it did in the pot.
  5. Soil Embrace: Fill the hole with soil, gently patting it down around the plant to provide stability.
  6. Hydration Celebration: Water thoroughly to help the roots settle and establish their new home.

💡 Pro Tips for Care:

  • Mulch Marvel: We recommend using organic mulch, such as hardwood species, to maintain soil moisture and protect against weeds. However, exercise caution not to place mulch directly against the base of the plant to prevent moisture-related issues.
  • Pruning Wisdom: Keep your Stevia thriving by occasionally pruning to encourage bushier growth and remove any dead or yellowing leaves. This promotes a healthier, more productive plant.
  • Winter TLC for Florida and Similar Climates: In warmer climates like Florida, continue regular care during the winter. Stevia generally handles mild winters well, but you can provide extra protection by covering your plant during cold snaps.

Container Gardening: Indoors and Out

For those who prefer container gardening, here's what you need to know:

  • Transplanting Tips: When transplanting Stevia into a container, choose a pot that provides ample space for root growth. Ensure it has drainage holes to prevent waterlogged soil, which can harm the plant.
  • Ideal Locations: Place your container indoors by a sunny window where it can receive at least six hours of sunlight daily. Outdoors, choose a spot with plenty of sunshine.
  • Care Indoors: Indoors, water your potted Stevia moderately to keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Allow excess water to drain to prevent root rot. Rotate the pot occasionally to ensure even sunlight exposure.
  • Care Outdoors: For outdoor containers, water when the top inch of soil feels dry, and be mindful of hot weather, as containers may dry out faster. Prune regularly to maintain a bushy shape and encourage new growth.

🚚 LIVE PLANT SHIPPING & TRANSIT EXPECTATIONS

Live plants naturally experience stress during shipping. Temporary leaf drop, mild wilting, or cosmetic stress is normal after transit. Most plants recover quickly with proper watering, gradual light exposure, and basic aftercare. Some plants may require additional attention during the first few weeks.

Despite careful packing, minor cosmetic damage may occur during transit. Small issues such as broken leaves or stems typically resolve with time and proper care.

If your shipping box arrives with significant external damage, please contact UPS within 30 days to initiate a carrier claim.

⏱️ SHIPPING METHOD, TIMING & TRANSIT WINDOWS

All online orders ship via UPS Ground from our Central Florida nursery.

📦 Shipping Schedule: Orders ship once weekly on Mondays to reduce the risk of packages sitting in transit over weekends. A countdown clock on our website displays the next shipping date.

🚚 Typical Transit Times:
  • Florida: 1–2 days

  • Southern U.S.: approximately 2 days

  • Midwest, West & Northern U.S.: 3–5 business days

Long-distance shipments, particularly to the western U.S., may experience additional transit time due to agricultural inspections in states such as Arizona, California, and Texas.

Extended transit times can be more challenging for small or tender plants and may require additional recovery care after arrival.

🌡️ EXTREME WEATHER & SEASONAL RISK

Live plants are sensitive to temperature extremes.

We cannot guarantee plant condition during periods of extreme summer heat or winter cold and freezing temperatures. Weather-related delays, carrier interruptions, or exposure during delivery are beyond our control.

Customers are responsible for:
