Jaboticaba Tree Scarlet, Brazilian Grape (Plina cauliflora) - Live Plant

Ships in a 3 gallon pot

Get ready for a sweet surprise with our Scarlet Jaboticaba Tree! This slow-growing tropical to subtropical evergreen tree or large shrub bears edible, grape-like purple fruits with a sweet, juicy, gelatinous, white pulp. And the Scarlet variety is one of the most early fruiting Jaboticaba from seed, which can fruit from seed in about 3 years. The fruits are one of the sweetest, coming in slightly sweeter than red Jaboticaba, and are at their best when their skin has thinned at full ripeness.

Fresh fruit may begin to ferment 3 to 4 days after harvest, so they are often used to make jams, tarts, strong wines, and liqueurs. Trees will tolerate minimums of 27 to 29°F (-2 to 3°C) for 2 or 3 hours if they are in good condition. However, young trees may be severely injured at those temperatures; therefore, it is important that it is protected below 30 degrees.

Whether you live in a tropical or cooler climate, you can enjoy this unique, delicious, and nutritious tropical tree that adds a bit of paradise to your home or office. We suggest keeping your Scarlet Jaboticaba Tree in an appropriate sized container that can be relocated into a greenhouse or indoors during freezing weather conditions.

Physical damage - Occasionally, boxes become damaged during UPS handling & transport. Our shipping team takes all measures in securely packing your selection/s to minimize all damage and stress on the plant.  We've had great feedback on packing your plants with extra special attention. Unfortunately, it's past our control beyond our packing house.
In cases of serious box damage, please contact UPS within 30 days to start a claim.
If it's just a broken branch or even part of a stem - just let it grow, take care of your plant and it will respond to your love.

Shipping Long Distances -  Orders that are shipped to the western US can often take 4 to 6 business days for transport, including the delay of agricultural inspections in Arizona, California & Texas. Please note that the quality of tender young plants is more affected by the extra length of stress inside shipping boxes. Extra care is taken during packaging to ensure quick recovery after unboxing.  Often plants need extra care for the first few weeks after transport.  Please review our policy on returns & refunds for more information, as well as our plant care guide.
