TROPICAL EDIBLE LANDSCAPE OVERHAUL - ST. PETE BEACH 2013

A tropical feeling to this backyard’s new design suites it’s location in St. Pete Beach, FL.  The property owners were looking for a design that was useful, but also one that was esthetically pleasing for the eyes & easy to care for.  We carefully balanced our landscape materials so that the height & width of each plant maximized the space.  While some of the trees & other nursery items we installed look rather small right now, it won’t be long at all before they are full size & this design is looking like an edible beach oasis.

We removed all the landscape materials that didn’t compliment our beneficial species system, then restored all the plants that were to remain in the design.  After a thick layer of mulch was spread, we incorporated a our favorite variety of mango tree, the Carrie, and also planted sapodilla, guavas, canistel, tropical cherries, pineapple, jackfruit, allspice, bananas, passionfruit, lemongrass, dune sunflower, sunshine mimoma, blue porterweed, native lantana, squiupion tai, coral honeysuckle, milkweed, silver button  & sea purslane.
